John and Amanda Horne Honored at National Travel and Tourism Week Celebration

We’re still glowing from an unforgettable evening at Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) . More than 250 people gathered to celebrate National Travel and Tourism Week and recognize the incredible individuals who make this destination so special. From guest-facing team members to community leaders, the night reminded us of what makes this region shine.

Hosted by Visit Sarasota County, Visit Bradenton Gulf Islands, and SRQ Airport, the event was full of energy, connection, and gratitude.

We were incredibly honored when John and Amanda Horne were named the 2025 Voice of Sarasota. The award recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact on Sarasota County’s tourism industry through leadership, vision, and community involvement. In 2024, they opened their first Anna Maria Oyster Bar in Sarasota County, expanding their mission of Five Star Fun to North Port and embracing the Sarasota community with the same heart-forward hospitality. And after last fall’s back-to-back hurricanes, they helped guide recovery across both St. Armands Circle and Anna Maria Island. From gathering local leaders for conversations at Café L’Europe to rallying support for the community on AMI, they helped turn a challenging time into one of unity, support, and forward momentum.

In a heartfelt surprise, they were also named Tourism Ambassadors of the Year. That recognition belongs to all of us at Oysters Rock Hospitality. None of it would be possible without our restaurant teams. They are the ones delivering Five Star Fun every day, creating unforgettable moments, and making guests feel like family. This award is for them too.

We were proud to celebrate alongside so many passionate and dedicated people. Chris Culhane from The Center of Anna Maria Island was also named a Tourism Ambassador of the Year. Erin Silk of the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County received the Rising Star Award. Nicole Rissler from Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources was honored with the Government Partner Award. Virginia Haley, former President of Visit Sarasota County, received the Legacy Leadership Award. Kathy Leon from the Art Ovation Hotel, was recognized with the Hospitality Trailblazer Award. Each of them plays a unique role in shaping the visitor experience and strengthening our community.

The evening was a beautiful reminder that hospitality is about heart. And when we lead with care and purpose, the impact reaches far beyond the table.
