Meet Our Head of Accounting, Ian Nyhus!

Born in Dunedin and raised in Parrish, Florida, Ian has been part of the Anna Maria Oyster Bar family since day one of his working life. A graduate of Braden River High School, Ian earned his associate’s degree from State College of Florida and is currently completing his bachelor’s at the University of South Florida. While many explore different jobs over the years, Ian found the perfect fit early—and never looked back.

His love for hospitality runs in the family. His dad spent his career in the restaurant world, and Ian grew up attending events at the Bradenton Yacht Club, where his father served as COO. A casual lunch with a friend at the Oyster Bar turned into a life-changing moment when he left with a job application in hand—and the rest is history.

Over his seven years at AMOB, Ian has made countless memories, but one guest stands out above the rest: a regular named Rich, who visited several times a week bringing candy, holiday cards, and birthday greetings for the entire team. “It’s guests like him that remind you how meaningful this work can be,” Ian shares.

When he’s not working or studying, Ian is a devoted Tampa Bay Lightning fan (especially during playoff season) and a Halloween Horror Nights enthusiast. He also adores his two French bulldogs—though they might say he could stand to turn off the football game once in a while.
