John and Amanda Horne Honored with 2025 Good Scout Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bradenton, FL – March 2025

The Boy Scouts of America Southwest Florida Council proudly honored John and Amanda Horne with the Good Scout Award at the Annual Million Dollar Day for Scouting, held on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Manatee Performing Arts Center in Bradenton, Florida.

Each year, the Good Scout Award recognizes individuals who exemplify the values of Scouting in their personal and professional lives. Through their leadership, service, and philanthropy, John and Amanda Horne have made a lasting impact on the Sarasota-Bradenton community.

As owners of Anna Maria Oyster Bar and founders of Oysters Rock Hospitality, the Hornes have consistently supported causes that align with Scouting values, including youth education, leadership development, and community empowerment. Their work through initiatives like Shuckin’ Good Cause and Dive into Reading has transformed countless lives and strengthened the community they call home.

“We were thrilled to recognize John and Amanda Horne with the Good Scout Award,” Mike Bear, Executive Board Member SWFL Council BSA.

The Million Dollar Day for Scouting serves as a major fundraising initiative, raising critical funds to support programs across Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Collier, and Lee Counties. The event helps ensure that the benefits of Scouting, including leadership training, outdoor adventure, and character development, remain accessible to all young people across the region.
